Everything I wore this summer
Easy, breezy, comfortable with lots of accessories.
As I’m sitting here writing this piece boasting about the fabulous summer that London has had - it is in fact thunder and lightning and pouring rain, but we move nonetheless. This summer in the city has been unusually kind to us and to be honest, I have forgotten about my coats and warm jumpers that are gathering dust in my wardrobe. I leaned into my summer style with a very simple outfit formula: easy, breezy and comfortable. No overthinking, no complicated layering, just pieces that let me walk from my morning coffee stops (incoming post on my favourite London places) to evenings in the park without wishing I’d brought a change of clothes. But the key piece to all of these outfits have been accessories - beaded necklaces (ofc, check out my jewellery brand Gabsluk), statement sunnies and unusual bags (thank you Vinted).
For me, the magic of a good outfit formula is what makes the outfit look almost lazy but put together in the best way. Pyjama inspired outfits were a big hit both at Glastonbury and for my daily strolls around Hyde Park. When I wanted to feel a little more put together, slip skirts and silk dresses is where I gravitated towards and I can admit that I may not need another slip dress or skirt until next summer but I did spot this one that I may have to make an excuse for.
I’ve pulled together a little photo diary of my favourite looks from the last few months. Some are from very very hot days spent in Mallorca, while others are from my weekend mornings at the farmer’s market (who am I?). You’ll see the pieces that I kept reaching for on repeat, and maybe spot a few styling tricks that I did not even realise I was doing until I looked back at the pictures.
The Midi Skirt

To catch me in a mini skirt is super rare, almost a once in a season event. My wardrobe is 90% midi skirts and I have no intention of changing that. They are my weakness. From flowy silhouettes to interesting textures like the 16Arlington one, I will always find room for another. My summer formula has been a fun skirt and a simple tank. The classic white tank, in particular, worked really hard these last few weeks. Of course, always styled with some fun jewellery and a matching bag. If I had to pick my favourite look it was either the 16Arlington skirt or the Gimaguas skirt and a grey tank.
The Maxi Dress

The summer maxi dress really earned its keep this season - it went everywhere with me, including the very dusty fields at Glastonbury. Some versions were unapologetically extra (yes, sparkly and sheer, because why not?), while others leaned into that effortless, throw on vibe. A couple of my favourites, 1&3 are old-season Zara, but honestly, pieces like this always pop up on Vinted or eBay if you’re willing to do a little scrolling.
The Boho Girl

This might just be my favourite outfit era of the summer. I’m fully here for the return of boho - those Chloé inspired pieces that feel dreamy, romantic, and a little bit nostalgic. Case in point: this blouse, which I honestly can’t stop thinking about. It’s the kind of piece that makes you want to lean into the whole aesthetic even more. I’m already planning a very boho-inspired autumn (yes, suede, leather, and all), and I’ll be sharing my mood board soon.
The Easy One

Finally, the outfits that do not require any thought. My go to formula has been a pair of funky shorts/trousers and a tank or a vintage tee. No stress, no planning, just an instant outfit. Sometimes it’s the uncomplicated looks that end up being the most fun and honestly, often my favourites.
Would love to know your favourite outfit! Let me know in the comments.
Until next time,
G x
